The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Wisconsin Badgers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Kohl Center.
Ohio State comes into this one at 11-4 overall. The Buckeyes had a three-game win streak snapped by Purdue in their last outing. As for Wisconsin, they’re currently 12-3 this season. Ohio State began their year on a five-game win streak before suffering their first loss December 16 versus Purdue. The Buckeyes then went 3-1 in their next four games with a loss to Northwestern. Since then it’s been three wins for Ohio State bookended by losses to Minnesota and Purdue.
In Tuesday’s 67-65 loss to the Boilermakers, Ohio State’s Duane Washington led the team on 21 points with six assists and there rebounds. Justin Ahrens added 12 points with four rebounds in 34 minutes, and EJ Liddell managed 11 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Wisconsin side, they went 3-1 in their first four games with a loss to Marquette. The Badgers then won their next five straight before a loss to Maryland. Since then it’s been a 4-1 run for Wisconsin, with wins over Rutgers and Northwestern after their Michigan loss.
In Wednesday’s 68-52 win over the Wildcats, Wisconsin’s Tyler Wahl topped the team on 14 points with six boards and two assists. D’Mitrik Trice added 12 points with four assists and two boards, while Brad Davidson put up 11 points and three assists in 34 minutes of work.
Wisconsin is 8-0 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall. The Badgers are 10-4-1 ATS in the last 15 versus a team with a winning percentage above .600 and the over is 18-7-1 in their last 26 home games.
Meanwhile, Ohio State is 5-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 6-0 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. The Buckeyes are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss and the over is 5-2 in their last seven road games.
PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Ohio State. The Buckeyes have a couple of bad games in their last five outings, but to their credit they’ve played some tough squads in that time. Ohio State fell by 17 to Minnesota, and blew a six-point halftime lead versus a tricky Purdue team. Wisconsin has taken care of business for the most part lately, but has 68 or fewer points in each of their last three. If the Buckeyes get going on the scoreboard early I think they can manage a cover here. Should be a great game regardless.

The Wisconsin Badgers hit the road for a Big Ten clash with the 5th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. The Badgers are (8-5), coming off a 65-37 win over Rider. The Buckeyes are (11-2), after falling to West Virginia at home, 67-59.

In the Badgers win over Rider, Wisconsin was led on offense by Nate Reuvers. Reuvers converted on 6 of 11 attempts from the floor, making 3 foul shots, recording 15 points. Wisconsin shot 43% from the floor and 42% from distance. The Badgers defense was smothering, holding Rider to just 24% from the floor. Wisconsin while playing great defense, was able to pull away from their 3-point shooting. The Badgers made 13 3-pointers int he win.

Ohio State should be able to take advantage of the short Badgers bench. Ohio State is a very deep team and coach Chris Holtmann has no issue going to his bench. The Buckeyes not only have an edge offensively, Ohio State is the 8th best 3-point shooting team in the country. Wisconsin is 258th in defending the 3. Wisconsin is 1-2 on the road, while the Buckeyes are 7-0 ATS this season. However, this is the Big Ten and a double digit point spread seems to high for a team that just beat Tennessee by 20 points. I'll take Wisconsin to cover, but Ohio State will win, 71-63.
