The Capital City Go-Go is an American professional basketball team in the NBA G League and an affiliate of the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association. Based in Washington, D.C., the team plays their home games at the St. Elizabeths East Entertainment and Sports Arena. The team became the twenty-third G League team to be owned by an NBA team.[4]

History[edit]

  1. Washington handles a Paul George-less Clippers at Capital One Arena In their final game before the all-star break, a 119–117 win, the Wizards started the affair shooting 4–12 from the field.
  2. Wizards hen it's time for Scott Brooks to coach the Washington Wizards these days, he first has to find a spot in his house. Like most people, he is at home practicing social distancing. So are his son and daughter, who are each students, his son at Georgetown Law School and his daughter at the University of Southern California.

In December 2017, the Washington Wizards unveiled the Capital City Go-Go's name and released their logo. The team's name alludes to the go-go music genre that started in the mid-1960s to late 1970s local to Washington, D.C.[5] On August 7, 2018, the Washington Wizards named Pops Mensah-Bonsu as general manager and Jarell Christian as head coach.[6] After one season, Christian joined the Wizards as an assistant coach and replaced by Ryan Richman. Following the pandemic-curtailed 2019–20 season, Pops Mensah-Bonsu left the team.[7] The Go-Go was one of several teams to opt out of the abbreviated 2020–21 bubble season in Orlando, and the Wizards came to an agreement to loan players to the Erie BayHawks.[8] The Wizards then assigned Amber Nichols as Capital City's general manager and work alongside their players with the BayHawks, becoming the second women to hold that position in the G League after the College Park Skyhawks' Tori Miller.[9]
